Erosion control near Nkhata Bay

Tiyeni’s erosion control project was featured on MBC news in September 2021. This steep and remote area southwest of Nkhata Bay has become a resounding example of the power of Deep Bed Farming. Contrary to initial fears that the farmed land was too steep, the enthusiastic farmer community has achieved really high yields.
The project is run by Tiyeni Field Officer, Hazel, who holds a BSc in Environmental Management and Diploma in Agriculture. The photos below show activities to control erosion taking place in October 2021. |
