Collaborative working
Mzuzu University (MZUNI) is one of Malawi’s principal universities, offering a range of programmes in areas such as environmental sciences, education, health, social sciences, humanities, science, and technology. Tiyeni has collaborated with MZUNI since 2015, when Dr Albert Mvula, now a Tiyeni Trustee, received a scholarship through the UK’s University of Worcester. Dr Mvula conducted his PhD research on how social-ecological conditions influence different outcomes for DBF practice. Since then, Tiyeni has continued to collaborate on a range of projects with MZUNI. Faculty members Dr Willy Chipeta, a water and sanitation expert, and Dr Frank Mnthambala, an environmental specialist, partnered with Tiyeni for our work African Development Bank Group-funded project with Malawi’s Northern Region Water Board on climate-resilient water security. Tiyeni has also collaborated with MZUNI for reports on training for ecosystem-based adaptation, which include gender-responsive approaches.
