Tiyeni’s response to Covid-19

Malawi joins other southern African nations in coronavirus lockdown, to begin on Saturday 18th April.
To date Tiyeni has been working to adapt services in order to safeguard the health and safety of staff and the communities, sourcing and developing advice and encouraging hand washing. We continue to monitor developments and will respond accordingly to the lockdown with staff moving to working from home.
Projects help some of Africa’s poorest agrarian communities and we are committed to carrying out our mission-critical services through this challenging time. We are putting in place significant contingency planning to be able to go ahead with some activities and advise farmers without the need for meeting in person.
We work to improve farmers crop yields and food supply from low levels. Harvesting of last year’s crops is currently going ahead successfully but farmers need to carry out many seasonal activities now to secure their future food supply, including making compost, making decisions on this year’s deep tilling of their agricultural land and management of fields against degradation.
We are so grateful for the ongoing support from so many individuals and organisations. This will enable us to continue vital work helping communities.
